Hi, I'm Patrick

SkyRaptor Avatar

I was born on October 9th, 1997, in Heidelberg ðŸ‡©ðŸ‡ª and grew up in St. Ilgen, Leimen. I'm curious and driven by a desire to understand how things work. Whether I'm repairing, analyzing, or observing, I quickly grasp systems and patterns, and enjoy improving or creating rather than passively consuming.

Living with atopic dermatitis, asthma, and allergies since childhood has shaped my perspective, but it has never stopped me from pursuing my passions. I've always followed my own path - skateboarding, mountain biking, shooting sports, and exploring whatever caught my curiosity. Later, I taught myself programming and have been building and creating my own solutions ever since. I'm drawn to technical, creative, and social systems, aiming to understand them beyond the surface while valuing clarity, structure, and intentional design.

Why I Love Coding

I started programming at the age of thirteen, sparked by a 8GB USB thumb drive containing a full World of Warcraft server emulator. The idea that an entire persistent world - with players, ai behaivour, world, and database - could be run that easily fascinated me instantly. That curiosity led me to the TrinityCore project, where I gained my first real experience with C++ and SQL as well as maintainung Linux servers.

Soon after, I explored web development with PHP, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, building websites and tools around game servers and personal hobbies. From the beginning, responsive design and usability were priorities, not trends. Over time, my interests naturally expanded to:

  • Modern development workflows (SCM, GIT, CI/CD).
  • Web Development using PHP & TypeScript.
  • Modern frontend development using Tailwind, AlpineJS and Livewire.
  • Cloud infrastructure orchestration & maintenance (IaC).
  • Cryptography and IT security.
  • Application development using C#, C++.
  • 3D development using Unity3D, Unreal Engine 4, CryEngine and Godot.

I primarily work on Linux and really feel at home with Bash, though I also use PowerShell in Windows environments. I manage many Linux and locally and in the cloud, and have a strong interest in secure, encrypted networks. Open source has always been central to my work, sharing solutions and collaborating on projects through GitHub. I enjoy collaborating with other people on shared goals using modern approaches to software development.

Today, my focus is on modern backend development, software architecture, and sustainable practices. For me, programming is about clarity, responsibility, and building solutions that last.

Through The Lens

Photography balances my digital work. I enjoy abstract and nature photography, spending time outdoors observing wildlife, insects, fungi, and landscapes. My work ranges from wide-angle to super-telephoto and macro shots. Patience is key: waiting for the right light or moment often matters more than technical perfection.

A curated selection of my work - from macro details to expansive landscapes - is presented below.

Coordination & Chaos

Gaming is more than entertainment for me. I prefer simulators and tactical FPS games that emphasize teamwork, communication, and planning. I've played ArmA extensively, mainly in English-speaking communities, where coordination and situational awareness are essential. I also enjoy flying in DCS, operating F-15E Strike Eagles or F-16C Vipers in coordinated missions.

I value realism, structured teamwork, and emergent gameplay, preferring games where individuals operate as part of a coherent system rather than acting alone.
